Book and Media Donations
The Friends of the Public Libary would not exist without your donations! All of the materials we sell in our monthly Book Sales and in the Bookshop are made possible through generous donors. We accept donations both large and small. If you have a very large donation, it is best to call or email to make an appointment to ensure that a volunteer will be available to receive it.
See below for more information.
What We Accept
We accept materials in gently used, sellable condition:
-
Paperback and hardcover fiction and nonfiction
-
Magazines less than six months old
(no free magazines, please) -
Antique and collectible books and other materials
-
Commercially recorded CDs and DVDs
-
Art prints, framed and unframed

What We Cannot Accept
While we appreciate all donations, there are some items that we cannot resell and must recycle if we receive them. These items include:
-
Books and other items that contain health hazards: such as mold, mildew, animal droppings, insects, and heavy amounts of dirt and dust.
-
Damaged materials: ripped, torn, heavy writing or underlining in the text, pages falling out or missing, water damaged, or stained.
How to Donate
Donations are accepted Monday through Saturday from 10:30AM to 4:00PM
If you have a very large donation (10 or more boxes) or are unable to drop your donation off during the above times, please email morgan@friendsofthepubliclibrary.org
for assistance.
When packing up your donations to bring in to us, please keep in mind that we cannot return boxes or bags, so be sure to use containers that you do not need back. Please keep boxes at a 30 pound maximum to ensure that our volunteers will be able to lift them.
Once one of our volunteers has received your donation, it becomes the property of the Friends of the Public Library and cannot be returned.
